Director Nawapol Thamrongrattanarit brings his indie sensibilities to his first major commercial film Heart Attack, which swept Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, Best Screenplay, Best Editing and Best Score at the 2016 Thailand National Film Association Awards. Starring Sunny Suwanmethanont (Mr. Hurt) and Davika Hoorne (Pee Mak), the blockbuster film tickles with its deadpan humor and hints of romance, but it's not the typical kind of romantic comedy that fills Thai cinemas. Smart and observant, Heart Attack unhurriedly depicts the hurried lives of young professionals as they deal with tight work schedules, personal relationships and daily grievances and deadlines.
Workaholic freelance graphics designer Yoon (Sunny Suwanmethanont) works day in and day out without regard for health or sleep. After ignoring a persistent rash for too long, he finally makes the trip to the hospital where he is treated by young resident Dr. Imm (Davika Hoorne). As prescribed by Imm during their brief yet lingering appointments, Yoon begins to make small changes to his daily habits, like eat better and exercise more. Sleeping more, however, causes problems for his work.
